Happy New Year

Wait, what happened to 2011? This year went by so quickly that it was over before I even realized it had started. Anyway, it’s 2012 now, and I’m afraid that we’ll be hearing a lot about the so-called impending apocalypse. Just remember, if anyone dares to mention the Mayan calendar, feel free to refer them to the real explanation why it ends in 2012.

What’s Been Going On

If you’re a loyal reader of the comic, you’ve probably noticed that it’s been way more than a month since the last regular update. So what happened? Do I not care about my readers? Is the comic finally going to end due to a lack of updates? Has a deranged axe murderer lopped off my drawing hand? Well, readers, let me delight you with the full, only slightly censored tale of why there have been no updates;

The Great PC Meltdown of ’11
It all began when I accidentally kicked my desktop while standing up to grab a drink; apparently the sheer force of my kick loosened the CPU cooler which overheated the processor and sent the entire thing straight down the crapper. I couldn’t get it to start anymore, so I did what any sensible person would do and started shopping for a new system. Of course, sadly this meant that I couldn’t work on the comic for a while; but hopefully I would be able to get my new equipment in a few weeks and be back up and running before anyone even noticed that the strip wasn’t being updated, right?

It Gets Worse
While I was excitedly waiting for my new gaming/drawing machine, some other things were going down in the background. I’m not going to bother you with any of the dull details, but the long and short of it is that I was going to have to spend a lot more time a day on my day job thanks to a longer commute – which brought along a considerable amount of stress. Sadly, the comic was the first one to feel the hard consequences of this extra stress, because even once I got my new PC, I just couldn’t find the energy needed to get drawing after I came home from an exhausting day at work.

What Now?
By now you’ve probably had enough of my bad excuses so let me get on to the only information you’re really interested in; are there going to be regular updates again?! Well, I’m going to have to answer that one with an incredibly annoying “I don’t know”, but there’s positive news as well – by next week my stress levels will probably/hopefully go down considerably as my commute will be shorter again, which means that one of the most stressful periods of my life will at last be coming to an end.

Thanks for those who have been supportive and patient during this period; and as a way of reassuring everyone that the comic hasn’t died just yet I’ve already finished and scheduled fridays comic, so be sure to check back by then for the thrilling conclusion of the Commercial Space Flight Storyline!
