Scientific Madness; is it dead?!

I’ve taken way too long to make a post about this and it’s understandable that a lot of people are wondering what’s going on. First of all, let me stress that while I’ve not published a comic for quite a while now, Scientific Madness is not dead. I will return to it (hopefully sooner than later), and I’ve still got plenty of stories to tell for these characters.

So why is it taking so long? No, the rumors of me being in cryogenic stasis are not true – I simply needed some time away from the comic. Have you ever had one of those hobby projects that you’ve worked on for so long that it turned into a chore? Well, Scientific Madness turned into that for me. I hold myself to some very high standards where I don’t like cutting corners and demand that I try to improve my art and storytelling with every new update, and over time this project that I initially loved working on turned into bi-weekly deadlines that often just weren’t doable. As a matter of fact, I’ve really been enjoying my time away from the comic and it helped to some extent to recharge my ‘creative batteries’. I’m actually looking forward to working on it again.

So, where do we stand at this moment? I will start working on new updates again, the first of which will probably be published in about two weeks. Secondly, I will be giving myself some more realistic goals (especially initially) by scaling back the update schedule to ‘weekly’. This way, I’ll hopefully be able to build up a considerable backlog of strips, which will in turn ensure that hiatuses like this will be avoided in the future.
